May is always an important and active month in the lives of our students.

For all staff, May is still a busy month as teachers are actively involved with the curriculum at each grade level: planning, questioning, evaluating and reinforcing skills and values through the learning process and related assessments. It is especially busy for students in grades 3 and 6, as the annual EQAO testing occurs at the end of this month.

It is also the month of warming weather, with skipping, outside games and sunny days. The Red Maple and Silver Birch Library trips occur this month; Victoria Day is celebrated shortly and our End of the Year Social is in planning for 4 June. In addition, as a school we continue our concentrated focus upon ‘being kind and caring students at Rickson Ridge”.

Red hollyNovember is done and December is just beginning. Within a wink, 2011 will be done and what a great year it has been.

I am genuinely proud of the hard work of our staff members and students and the very sincere involvement of our parents and guardians with the hard work to constantly maintain and improve student achievement and social development at Rickson Ridge Public School. crossing guard girlAs mentioned in previous newsletters, the front driveway will be open for buses, taxis and families who use the daycare only. The Guleph Police have advised us to keep the front area of the school a safe zone for children. If you drop your children off on neighbouring roads, they may use the crosswalk where Safety Patrol students will be happy to help them cross the road. Please help us to keep all of our students safe.
