It's hard to believe we are into term two and March Break is fast approaching! The weather is changing and spring is in the air. Enjoy the break with your family whether you are travelling or staying close to home. Please remember that first term report cards offered some excellent feedback for students. Teachers provided next steps for students which should be used for goal setting during the rest of the year.

• proof of address (electrical bill, phone bill, etc)

Canadian country recording artist Ryan Laird, a graduate of the UGDSB, will be visiting Mitchell Woods P.S. on January 27 to sing a few songs, talk about music careers, following your dreams and bullying. In April Laird will be opening for Alan Jackson when the country star's tour swings through Ontario. His song, "Hey Ashley"  is based on Laird's feelings of isolation in Grade 7. Laird scored his first top 10 hit at radio and CMT (country music television) this past year with his song "I'm Your Man"  which has recently been nominated for a Canadian Radio Music Award (CRMA).

Happy New Year. I am so excited to be back at Mitchell Woods. After a few years as Vice-principal at Mitchell Woods, I spent a little more than a year as Vice-principal at Willow Road School. I feel fortunate to know most Mitchell Woods’ staff and hundreds of students. Our staff are extremely caring and committed. They continue to offer many exciting events and activities. I am fortunate to work alongside Tracy Baker, who is an experienced V.P and knows the staff, students, and parents.My belief in assisting student learning begins with building positive and trusting relationships. I look forward to continuing to support your child and to work with all the parents. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to drop in or phone.

November has flown by so quickly! Our students have been engaged in many great learning experiences and so many extra curricular clubs, sports and music activities. December promises more of the same!

It is the time of year for families to celebrate and enjoy the holiday season. I hope you have a good one!
