It has been a very exciting start to spring on the grounds of Ken Danby Public School. It began in early April with the addition of our new playground. Many thanks to the School Council and parent community for supporting our fundraisers and efforts. Students have been having a wonderful time during recesses and Phys. Ed class, climbing and ‘hanging out’ with friends! As ‘additions’ seem to be our spring theme, you will have also noticed by now that we are undergoing an addition to the school building itself. We will be adding two new Kindergarten classes to the south wing of the school. The construction fence is now up and construction will be going on until the end of summer. We have reviewed the saftey rules (including not to touch or climb the fence) with students, as well as any new points of entry and exit for recess or fire drills.

New Playground now open

April 12th 2012 held a lot of excitement for Ken Danby P.S. We opened our amazing new playground structure. Grade 3 student Hailey performed the honours with Principal Acton at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Students loved the monkey bars, the many different ladders and the stepping pads. The circuit-like nature of the climber will challenge their fitness levels and strength at recess, in gym class and during (daily physical activity time) DPA.

Thanks to our wonderful parent community for supporting our fundraising efforts for the past four years. We couldn't have done it without you!

What a warm and wonderful start to spring!!!  We enjoyed the sunny days experienced in March and look forward to spring’s full presence and all of the new growth and renewed energy that comes with it.  It is hard to believe how quickly the school year is flying by, but there is still much to accomplish.  We continue to be amazed at the energy and enthusiasm of our staff, students and parent community.

So many activities have been successfully completed, and many more are still planned, such as the many exciting trips for students.  We are very excited about the arrival of our new playground that is to be installed in April.   This is the first structure and we hope to continue to supplement it with creative pieces of equipment.  We know that students will love having access to it during recess and Phys Ed. times.  You can continue to help support our playground fundraising efforts by supporting our Dance-a-thon.

Are we really approaching the end of winter? This has been a very unpredictable season with snow, rain, sun, and cloud. Fortunately, the school spirit throughout the building has kept everyone busy and full of energy.

Over the past month we have seen great leadership emerge from our students through their efforts in the Me to We campaign by raising funds to help build a school in Sierra Leone. There have been local projects as well; our Pink Shirt Day Anti-Bullying presentations, the Grade 6 VIP Graduation and the Ken Danby P.S. Environmental team.

Many thanks to the teachers and volunteers who give their time to support our students and their efforts!
