This event turned out to be a huge success.  Our students enjoyed the beautiful weather while being active and supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation.  There was skipping, music and plenty of watermelon and oranges for all.  As a school, we raised in excess of $6000.00.  That is truely AMAZING!  Thank you for supporting this cause.

Thank you to Parent Council for an amazing Staff Appreciation Luncheon.  What a fantastic spread!  We certainly felt APPRECIATED!  The theme, food and company were all perfect!  Thanks so much! 

 

Schools need to be safe and welcoming places so that students feel comfortable and are able to learn free from all distractions. To this effect, this spring all schools in UGDSB are collecting data from students and parents to find out about two closely related issues; equity and inclusive education as well as bullying and harassment.   

Collecting this data at FAH will allow us to establish a baseline and determine our current school climate as related to the above issues.  The survey information will be used by our staff to help promote an environment of respect, safety and belonging for all our students.   

The 2012 School Climate Survey for Parents and Guardians is now available online.  Junior students are completing their surveys in class.

If you have a child entering Junior Kindergarten this September, you won’t want to miss our first annual Kindergarten Learning Fair. Please join the F.A. Hamilton and John McCrae Kindergarten staff on Thursday, May 17th from 5:30-8:00 pm. in the gym at John McCrae School.  This event will be an opportunity for both parents and children to learn about different school and community groups that work together to enhance the educational experience.  Hope to see you there!

 

Track and Field will be held at Fred A. Hamilton on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 9:00 – 3:00.  We need help (parent volunteers) to run all the planned events.  If you are able to give your time on that day, e-mail Mme Hemsley at patricia.hemsley@ugdsb.on.ca.  We appreciate your support!

 

Dear Fred A Hamilton Families,

With our Literacy Café Pyjama Party just a few sleeps away, we wanted to ensure that we sent you one last friendly reminder.

Our Literacy Café – Pyjama Party Night will be held during the evening of Thursday, May 10^th from 5:30-8:00pm.  Your entire family is invited to come dressed in your pyjamas to a fun-filled night of reading, story-telling and all sorts of literacy activities.

Please note that our first story-telling session begins right at 6:00 and if you are joining us for that time slot, it would be nice to have everyone settled prior to 6:00 to prevent distraction.

We are having a silent auction for a print that has been donated by Werner Zimmermann. He has been kind enough to provide us with a limited edition, signed print that will be on display for bidding in the gym.

For those of you who wish to purchase books, our authors will be bringing some of their work to autograph and sell. The Dragon Book Store will also have a wide variety of comics to choose from (English and French). These will be reasonably priced and will be available at the book sale area in the gym. Cash is preferred.

We are holding our book sale from 5:30–8:00 in the gym (we need your gently-used books by this Wednesday) with each one being sold for $2.00. All proceeds will be donated towards an outdoor bunker to house toys/equipment for our JK/SK students.

Are you spring cleaning? Are your bookshelves bulging? Let your previously enjoyed and outgrown books find a new home and support fundraising for the school. Donate your children and adult books in good used condition to School Council and find some new ones for your family during the Family Literacy event on May 10th. All books will be available for $2.00. Please drop off your books at the school between Monday, May 7th and Wednesday, May 9th.
