The Special Education Department assists students through instructional support, consultation, monitoring, assessment and individual education planning. The Students Resource Room, C102, has been established to promote educational services for students according to their needs and abilities. Each student, all teachers and all school programs, play an important role in reaching this goal. These strategies and programs can be accessed by teacher referral or student self-referral. At the beginning of each semester, the teachers of an exceptional student are provided with educational information that assists them in developing an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for that student. IEP's are continuously updated to track the needs of our students and copies are readily available by contacting the Resource Room at ext. 317, or by e-mail (lissa.akerstream@ugdsb.on.ca). |
