A fully autonomous, federally registered non-profit charitable organization, SOMA is administered and directed entirely by high school students, making it unique among MUN conferences of such large scale. Again in 2008, SOMA will be held at the downtown St. George campus of the University of Toronto, which provides excellent committee and meeting rooms for the Assembly as well as a central location.

Model UN's like SOMA provide an opportunity for students to learn about the functions and role of the United Nations in world affairs. We can see that the work of the UN is evolving daily, and as such it is important for today’s youth to explore these issues and propose their own solutions. SOMA XXXVII, which will be held April 29 – May 2, 2009, promises to be the best conference to date. We hope to see you next April!
