Department Policies and Procedures
Plagiarism: Is the act of using another person's ideas or expressions without acknowledging the source. It is the act of copying, reproducing, or paraphrasing someone else's published or unpublished material and representing it as one's own work. This includes the Internet.
- Plagiarism will result in a zero on the assignment with disciplinary action to follow. Assignments copied form other students will result in penalties to both students involved. In the case of a major assignment, or work designated as necessary for the course credit, the mark of zero will result in the course being deemed incomplete (See Student Planner for clarification).
- The same assignment may not be submitted for more than one course or when a course is reacted.
- In some cases, a student will be asked to rewrite the assignment under teacher supervision.
Note:
- Where a student is absent for a test and has not made prior arrangement or given appropriate notice, the student may have lost the opportunity to demonstrate his/her accomplishment of the learning expectations evaluated on that test.
- Where absence is unanticipated, notice must be given to the school office no later than 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the day of the test. Where there is any question the V.P. may call for third party documentation.
- Students must present their seminar on the assigned date. Because a limited number of days have been allotted to this component of the course, there can be no extensions. Students who are legitimately absent but who do not notify the teacher may have missed their opportunity to demonstrate the achievement of the expectations.
- Even with notification, a group seminar may proceed at the discretion of the teacher.
- If a student wishes an extension they must request, fill out and return the "Request for Extension¡± form to the teacher at least 24 hours prior to the due date.
Attendance:
Good attendance is an essential component of this course. Students who fail to meet the Centennial attendance policy requirements as outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook may fail to achieve credit for this course.
Note: Some units may be team taught and/or marked. |
